Dear Members

It is with great sorrow, we record the death on 8th April, of our President, Victor Kneale C.B.E. M.A.(h.c.). Victor was our President for 19 years, and was the last surviving founder member of the Society. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and our sincere sympathy and prayers go out to his widow Thelma, and family.

I unfortunately missed the Easter Exhibition, as I was away visiting family in Australia. Since I returned, I have been told time and time again, what an inspiring exciting, WONDERFUL exhibition it was! And I am very sorry to have missed it.

The very warm sunny weather kept a lot of people away this year, but didn’t affect sales, as they were better than last year. This is not surprising, because of the very high standard of work exhibited. I think, judging by all the comments that have come my way, it was the best ever!

Congratulations everyone.

Our next exhibition will be our Autumn Exhibition. We usually hold this at Thie Ellyn, but this year, it has been suggested to the Committee that we might hold it at the Isle of Man Farmers’ Headquarters, at the bottom of Richmond Hill. Members of the Committee have been to look at the proposed site, which is being refurbished, and we have decided for this year, to go ahead. There will be certain advantages, in that we will probably reach a whole lot of new people. Our banners on Richmond Hill will be seen by a continuous flow of traffic. It will be well advertised by the farmers, and being a new facility for the Island, should attract a lot of interest. We shall be holding it towards the end of September, so get painting.

I know not everyone has computers, but many do. Would members who have E Mail addresses, and would like to receive the newsletter by E Mail, please forward them to me, at [sheilasignorio@hotmail.com ].
